7th March - Off to the Big Smoke

We’re headed to Adelaide today, we made a special effort to vacate by 10am cause if you not out by 10 here, you get charged another day.  Bit rough, but I guess they gotta do what they gotta do.  The van park was a great central location to town by the Burra Creek.   We are only 156kms from Adelaide a cruisey drive, find a camp for a few days so we can explore the place.   We stayed away for a week cause of the Clipsal being on, but we didn’t know this upcoming week-end was a long week-end, the Adelaide Cup on Monday, the Womad (World of Music) on, the Fringe Festival in full swing (over a month) and that’s just for starters.
We love to spread ourselves out, and check the grass!!  Mt Barker oval

Needless to say, we couldn’t book in anywhere in Adelaide for this period.   We had a few tense moments while we were driving through Adelaide and I was on the phone trying to find us somewhere to stay and navigate at same time.   We might have taken the scenic route, but all ended up great, we are parked up on the “overflow” oval at Mt Barker van park for a few days.   Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills and only a 40 minute bus ride into the city.   We only have one not so close neighbour, Tom and Donna, nice couple from Glen Innes been travelling around for past 5 years, we might be able to pick their brains later….
